Prevent flooding from failed water filter systems or ice maker lines with this small diameter shut off valve. This FloodStop unit can even hook up to an auto dialer, wi-fi notification device or your home security system to alert you that it has detected a leak and shut off the water!
Ice makers and under sink water filters are among the top causes of water damage to residential properties. Filter and ice maker lines can become kinked and eventually weaken to the point of splitting or can easily be accidentally disconnected or burst from water pressure surges in the home. If you are on vacation, at work or even just sleeping at night, the extensive flooding can be catastrophic, going on undetected for hours or days, causing tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in water damage.
This newly upgraded model Floodstop for Ice Maker or Water Filter Shutoff (FS 1/4C) offers ¼” compression fittings and a lead free valve to comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act. Using a local hardwired water sensor, the valve automatically shuts off the water supply to an ice maker or water filter and sounds an alarm if water is detected on the floor below or within the cabinet where the filter is. Only the only water to the filter or icemaker is shutoff so all other appliances and water outlets will remain operational. The controller is powered by an AC adapter with transformer and batteries, but it will beep to alert you that the batteries are getting low or are missing. It has a single (NO) normally open output contact for connection to a wi-fi enabled relay for email or text message notification, an auto dialer, smart home / home automation system or your existing intrusion alarm system for monitoring. Can be used alone or for added protection for faster localized response with flow and time based whole-house water shut off systems.
How the (FS 1/4C) FloodStop works:
Compression fittings connect the FloodStop valve onto the cold water feed going into the water filter or ice maker and the water sensor is placed on the floor or in the sink cabinet below the system just behind or next to the ice maker or water filtration system. When a water leak from these appliances is detected by the moisture sensor, the FloodStop valve closes and the controller sounds an alarm. The valves remain in the closed position until you dry off the sensor pad and reset the system. The power supply is an AC adapter/ transformer but 4 AA batteries can be used instead of the AC power if not AC outlet is available in that location or in addition to it as a battery backup in that event that you have a power outage.
